Easy to prepare, high-quality ingredients and precise dosage make this recipe the ideal choice for anyone who wants to treat their furry friend to something really special.
Why use CBD for cats?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis plants. There are some scientific studies that suggest that CBD can have a calming effect on cats, similar to how it works in humans. It can help reduce anxiety, improve appetite and relieve pain. In addition, CBD can contribute to your cat’s overall health and well-being.

Why cheese treats?
Cheese is an excellent source of protein, calcium and some essential fatty acids. It can help support bone health and boost the immune system. However, cheese should be given in moderation as it is also quite high in fat.
When to give this treat
This CBD cheese treat is ideal as a reward for good behavior or as a special treat. You can also use it if you need to give your cat CBD - the taste of the cheese can help mask the taste of the CBD in sensitive kitties :-) .
Ingredients needed:
- 200 g cottage cheese
- 100 g grated cheddar cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons dried catnip
- About 10 drops of CBD oil for animals 5%
Recipe – step by step
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare a baking sheet with baking paper.
- In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, grated cheddar, eggs, catnip and CBD oil.
- Form small balls from this mixture with your hands and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the treats for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
- Let them cool completely before offering them to your cat.
How to dose CBD in treats?
To make the dosage of CBD for cats as accurate and safe as possible, we recommend dividing the entire dough into approximately 60 small treats. When using 10 drops of 5% CBD oil for animals, the entire dough contains about 25 mg of CBD. This means that:
- 1 treat ≈ 0.4 mg CBD
- This dose is suitable as a starting amount for a cat weighing 3–4 kg
Thanks to this method of division, each treat has a similar CBD content and you do not have to deal with complicated measurements. If you need to increase or decrease the dose, this can be easily done by adjusting the number of treats given.
Baking tip
CBD is relatively stable to heat, but prolonged baking above 170–175 °C can reduce its effectiveness. Therefore, bake at 160–170 °C and/or add half the CBD only after baking: mix the oil with a teaspoon of warm water or a little cottage cheese and spread on lukewarm biscuits.
Only use oil suitable for animals without THC - i.e. purely veterinary preparations. If your cat is on permanent medication (e.g. for the liver or heart) or has health problems, always consult a veterinarian in advance.
Variations and Advanced Techniques
- Low-Calorie Version: For a lower-calorie CBD cheese cracker, replace a third of the cheddar with low-fat cottage cheese and increase the baking time by 2-3 minutes until the top is dry.
- Seasonal Variation: Add 1-2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree (pure, unsweetened) – adds moisture and beta-carotene; add 1 teaspoon of rice flour if needed to keep the dough pliable.
- Mini Cat Portions: For very small portions, pipe the dough into pea-sized balls with a pastry bag – for an extra-fine CBD delivery.
- Crispy Technique: After baking, dry the treats for another 20-30 minutes at 90°C or place them in a dehydrator for 2-3 hours; this will extend the shelf life and intensify the cheesy flavor.
Summary
Homemade and natural treats are a great way to support your cat’s health and well-being. The potential benefits of CBD combined with the health benefits of cheese make this cheesy treat a great addition to your kitty’s diet. We encourage all cat owners to try this recipe and see how their cat responds.
