A vegan alternative to fish oil? We know how to make it!
Author: Lucie Garabasova
Fish oil has enjoyed a reputation as a “health elixir” for decades (isn’t it part of your childhood memories? :-)). Grandmas used to give it to children on a spoon, adults use it for their heart and joints. But its regular use also comes with disadvantages – an unpleasant taste and smell, the environmental burden associated with fishing and, last but not least, the fact that fish oil is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
That’s why we were looking for an alternative that would bring the same or even wider benefits, but would be of purely plant origin, safe, tasty and environmentally friendly. And we found it – in a unique blend of oils with e-BCP, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins D3 and K2.
What is fish oil and how does it benefit the body?
Fish oil is a natural oil obtained from the liver or muscle of fatty fish such as cod, mackerel or salmon. It is a valuable source of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), which are key for:
- heart health (helps maintain normal blood pressure and heart function),
- proper brain and memory function,
- vision health,
- support of the immune system.
Thanks to these effects, fish oil has become the basis of many dietary supplements.
Why look for an alternative to fish oil?
Although fish oil has proven benefits, it also carries several problems:
- Taste and aroma - the typical fishy smell is unpleasant for many people.
- Sustainability - intensive fishing threatens the oceans and biodiversity.
- Ethics - a product of animal origin is not suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Therefore, it makes sense to look for a purely plant-based solution that offers the same benefits - without compromise.
What does the fish oil alternative contain and what makes it special?
1. CO2 extracted hemp oil
- Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 in an ideal ratio.
- Contains terpenes, flavonoids and antioxidants that are often lost during cold pressing.
- Supports skin, heart and immune system health.
2. Schizochytrium seaweed oil
- A pure source of DHA - as effective as fish oil.
- 100% vegan and environmentally sustainable.
- No risk of heavy metal contamination.
- Neutral taste - no fishy smell.
3. e-BCP complex (beta-caryophyllene)
- Acts on the CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system.
- Has anti-inflammatory effects and supports body harmonization.
- Up to 6x higher bioavailability than CBD.
- Also contains essential oils of hemp, black pepper and clove for a synergistic effect.
4. Vitamins D3 and K2 in vegan quality
- Vitamin D3 – strengthens immunity, bone and muscle health.
- Vitamin K2 – ensures proper calcium deposition in bones and protects blood vessels.
- Together, they support the musculoskeletal system and the heart.
Who is the product suitable for – and who is not?
Suitable for:
Vegans and vegetarians who want a fish oil substitute. People with an intolerance to fish products or an allergy to seafood and anyone looking for a modern dietary supplement with a wider range of effects.
Not suitable for:
Individuals with hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients and those taking medications that affect blood clotting (due to vitamin K2 – consultation with a doctor is required).
What effects can be expected?
- Brain and nervous system – DHA supports memory, concentration and mental well-being.
- Immunity – vitamin D3, e-BCP and antioxidants increase immunity.
- Heart and blood vessels – omega-3 and vitamin K2 protect the vascular system and support healthy blood circulation.
- Bones and joints – D3 and K2 contribute to bone strength, omega-3 has an anti-inflammatory effect.
- Digestion – Black pepper and cloves support metabolism and nutrient absorption.
- Relaxation and balance – Beta-caryophyllene helps harmonize the endocannabinoid system.
What do the studies say?
DHA from seaweed – Studies show that algal DHA supplementation is as effective as fish oil in supporting brain and heart health (Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2012).
Beta-caryophyllene – Research confirms its anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, thanks to its action on CB2 receptors (Physiol Behav. 2014).
Vitamin K2 – Studies demonstrate its essential role in depositing calcium in bones and preventing vascular calcification (Thromb Haemost. 2001).
Vitamin D3 – Numerous clinical studies confirm its benefits for immune function and the prevention of osteoporosis.
