As soon as you feel this balm, you immediately know Christmas is coming! The balm can be bought anywhere, but it is much better to make it yourself. We put together a recipe for the hemp balm with chamomile that contains everything you need for as hemp oil for the soft skin of the lips.
Hemp lip balm is made of: shea butter, coconut oil and hemp oil with chamomile blossoms, that have calming properties; essential cinnamon oils for swollen lips and oranges that hydrate and nourish – the most important things in lip care.
Our lips are a tactile organ that is very sensitive to touch. The skin on the lips is very thin, compared with the skin on the rest of the body and it requires special care – due the lack of hair and sweat glands that produce a protective layer of oils and sweat, keeping the skin moist and smooth. That is why your lips get dry quicker.
Why hemp oil?
Hemp oil is excellent for hydration of your lips. It has very rich nutritional profile, contains useful bioactive components and fatty acids like omega 3, 6, 9 and linole acid, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, B12, C, D, E and iron, calcium, copper, iodine, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, chlorophyll and fiber. Fatty acids are key components of the cells that make the outer layer of the skin. These are important nutrients for cell health that help dry and chapped lips.
Recipe for hemp balm with chamomile:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup beeswax (or candelilla wax for vegan alternative)
1/4 cup shea butter
1/4 cup CBD coconut oil
1/4 cup hemp oil
3 tablespoons dry chamomile blossoms
15 drops of ethereal oil
12 drops of essential cinnamon oil
Preparation:
Put the chamomile in a big jar, add hemp seeds. Close the lid and shake it slightly for a few minutes. Set aside and let sit for one day. The following day pour the oil through a fine siege to another jar or a mug. Squeeze the excessive oil out of the blossoms. You should be left with about two tablespoons.
Prepare a pan and put the jar in it, together with 5 cm of water. Heat slowly and stir until the mixture melts. Then stop the heating. Mix the hemp seed oil with the essential oils and stir.
Carefully pour the mixture to 15 ml reusable jars or sticks for lip balms. Let cool and harden.
Using
This recipe is enough for filling 15 jars of 15 ml volume with the balm. You can also put the mixture to a bigger jar. Use according to the instructions and when needed. Store in a cool place. Do not expose to direct sunlight. Use in 6 to 9 months.
