How long does hemp oil last?
Of course, it is always a good idea to follow the expiry date on the packaging. Ideally, the oil should be stored open in the fridge. In this case, the oil will last at least half a year. But after half a year it starts to lose its vitamins, minerals and medicinal substances due to oxidation. However, you do not have to throw it away. Instead of using it externally, we recommend using it as a lubricant for damaged skin.
3 steps to prolong its life or how to store it properly
If you follow the following procedure, our oils will last you up to six months:
- Tighten the cap thoroughly after each use to prevent oxidation and deterioration of the oil.
- Store in a darkened area - ideally in the refrigerator
- Choose a cool place - the temperature should not exceed 16 °C
How is hemp oil used?
As far as our pure hemp oils are concerned, they are the most convenient aid right in the kitchen. They serve as a suitable topping for salads or pasta, but you can also sprinkle it on a slice of bread and eat it just like that. They are a suitable substitute for animal fat.
We recommend using it in a cold kitchen. Hemp oil is not suitable for frying, which would degrade it. Our cold-pressed oils have a pleasant nutty taste and a light to dark green hue.
For internal use we recommend one teaspoon per day, either on its own or in food. For children, 2 to 3 teaspoons can be added to yoghurt, for example. For constipation, we recommend one teaspoon daily in the morning on an empty stomach.
For external use, for example for skin problems, we recommend applying lightly directly to the affected areas. The pleasantly nutty taste of hemp oil will get everyone going. Read more about the effects of hemp oil.
